What happens If Gill is unable to work?
If, for any reason, I feel unable to work , the Day care will remain open.
I will bring in a substitute care giver.
This will usually be one of three people very familiar to the children.
Any appointments that I can not schedule out of Daycare hours, I will do my best to schedule so that it causes the least disruption to the children as possible.

What if my child needs a special diet?
Should your child require a special diet, then please contact me and together we will work out the best way to meet your child's needs.
Parents may be asked to provide foods from home.
Parents are also asked to supply baby food and formula. I can blend or chop finely our regular diet as children reach this stage of eating.

What if my child has an serious allergy ?
A child with a life threatening allergy needs to have a health plan in place BEFORE entry into the daycare. All care givers will receive information in administering medications a child may need i.e. Epi pen, asthma medications-etc from a health professional. I cannot guarantee the daycare environment will be free of allergens for your child. However I respect a child's right to attend a daycare with any condition and will do my utmost to ensure their safety. Please note we have cats.
Can I send treats to the daycare?
The children have a midday meal and two snacks though out the day. There is no need to send additional foods or treats to daycare. This includes arriving with sugary breakfast cereals and gum.
What should I send to daycare with my child?
Comfort objects such as a cuddly toy and blankets
Soothers if used
Baby formula
Diapers
Diaper cream
Wipes (older children can benefit from these too)
Spare clothing socks underwear, shorts pants skirt. Shirts light jacket, sweater. Sunhat.
In winter and wet months rain jacket/ wet pants rubber boots, snow pants, several pairs of gloves or mitts warm hat and warm boots.
Please send children in play cloths that wont matter if it gets stained.
Please label everything in lower case lettering. Not only does this help the return of the children’s things but it helps the children recognize their written name.
Extra supplies can be left at daycare and replenished as needed rather than bringing things each day.

What should I NOT send to daycare?
I have severe allergies to scents , please do not wear any in my home as this can leave me too ill to look after your children. Watch hairspray, strong deodorants, perfumes hair gels etc. I seem unaffected by bug spray and most sunscreens.
If you smoke in your home please leave cuddly blankets and toys at my house and I will launder them for you. I apologise in advance but should coats or clothing smell strongly of cigarette smoke and I have a reaction too this I reserve the right to place items in the porch. This is not meant to be a judgment call in any way. But to protect my health and that of my family.
Candy or treats as these do not meet the nutrition guidelines the Daycare follows.
Toys that run off batteries or have parts to them.
Electronic games,
Scarves or hoodies with strings as these can be a strangulation hazard.
Medication in children’s back packs including such items as adult headache remedies, cough candies.
What do i do about communication between daycare and home?
If you need to contact me during the day I can be reached on the house number 483-3159 or cell phone 483-0281. If I do not answer it is because it is inconvenient to do so. please feel free to leave a message on the 483-0281 number as this is only used by the daycare.
I do not advise leaving a message with my children as years of training has still not resulted in messages being successfully passed on. I do check messages during quiet times, however I find e-mail is probably the best way to contact me if you are looking for information. [email protected] .
Should you feel the need for a longer conversation it may be better to phone me in the evening on the house number when there are not children around, For two reasons .. some conversations are not appropriate for young ears and it means time I should be spending with the children taken away from them.
What if I need more time to discuss something important?
Should we both feel the need to meet and talk together, time can be arranged for this and if necessary a substitute brought in to care for the other children. This would also apply for children attending the daycare who have extra support services in place for team meetings to ensure full inclusion to the program.
As parents are the experts of their children, daily communication helps link home and daycare more smoothly. Please inform me of changes in the family that may effect your child. This is in no way meant to be intrusive but to make sure the right support is in place for your child when they need it.
Helpful information would include changes in family structure such a parental separation or additions to the family, Illness or loved relative moving away. Even pet death can greatly effect a child.
Please inform me of any child information record changes such as e-mails, phone numbers and emergency pick up persons.

My child is too sick to go to school can they come to daycare instead ?
The answer to this is simply No. if they are too sick for school, they are also too sick for daycare.
My child is on medication, can the daycare administer it and how is it stored?
All Medications are stored in a locked box inaccessible to the children.
Should children need over the counter medications such as Tylenol for pain or cold remedies, please ensure these are in the original container with original labels.
Please provide a correct dosage.. spoon or syringe. This will be sent home for the parent to wash so provide extra if more than one dose is needed during the day.
No medication will be administered without a Permission to administer medication form completed.
Time date and dosage will be noted on the form.
For prescription medication, only the directions on the bottle will be acceptable.
I will need to know the last time the child had a dose, to ensure medication is given at the right intervals though out the day.
In the case of antibiotics, please try to have a prescription that allows the child to receive medication at home of at all possible.
How quickly can my child come back to daycare on antibiotics ?
With any prescription medication children may not return to daycare until they have had a full 24 hrs of dosage this means 24hrs after the first dose and not just overnight.
Therefore if your child sees a doctor at 3:00 pm the child can only return to daycare after one complete day away. This is to protect my family and the other children from illness.
